Fred Dunwell Competition.

Grand Finals

A fantastic turnout at the grand finals on Tuesday night. A lot of supporters were there for each team and there were a great deal of spectators which was very encouraging. Only two 180's were thrown on the night, one each to Shane Wolter and Steve Stewart. 180's are hard enough to throw during the normal competition and to hit one under pressure in the grand final is an achievement in it self, congratulations to the two of you.

A Grade:

What a great game one of the best A grade grand finals. Some big finishes and big scores were thrown by both teams. Dilligaf got off to a great start winning the first two singles, the next two went each way, the last two singles went to FIGJAM score is 3-3 going into the doubles. Again Dilligaf took out the first two doubles with FIGJAM taking the last doubles. Score going into the last round of singles Dilligaf 5 FIGJAM 4. With the game on the line the first two singles went down to the wire 5th leg and both teams struggled to hit the double eventually Dilligaf came out on top winning the first two singles. Dilligaf 7 FIGJAM 4. Dilligaf only needed one of the next two singles to secure the win with Dan Brown taking the game away from FIGJAM.

Dilligaf 8 - FIGJAM 4

B Grade:

This game did not dissapoint. Both the threes went each way. One all going into the doubles. Double D's took out two of the three doubles Score DD's 3 Gimps 2. Gimps started the singles strong winning the first two singles only to drop the next two back to DD's. DD's 5 Gimps 4. Needing one of the last two singles DD's lost the first locking the scores up 5 all. Coming down to the last singles saw Mick 'Poo' Rutherford pitted against Tom Pumpa a very tense game with Tom outlasting the old gimp. Congartulations DD's

Double D's 6 - Gimps 5

C Grade:

Mixed got off to a flyer against Inn-Truders winning both threes and the first doubles. Inn-Truders got on the board with the second doubles only to let mixed back in with the third. Scores going into the singles Mixed 4 Inn-Truders 1. Needing just two of the six singles Mixed started off shakely losing the first to Inn-Truders but won the second. Inn-Truders won the third to have a shimmer of hope needing to win the last three games. Mixed had their veteran Maurie up next and he didn't dissapoint taking out the fourth singles to win the game for Mixed.

Mixed 6 - Inn-Truders 3

Congratulations to the winners and commisserations to the teams that lost. Thank you to the team supporters and spectators that turned up to watch some fantastic darts. No darts next week due to Melbourne Cup, but the week after will be the South Coast Doubles. See you all there.

Finals

Congratulations to all teams who won and will advance to the Grand Finals next week, commisserations to those teams that lost, you done yourselves and your teams proud you fought gallantly to the end. Lets all turn up next week and cheer on those teams in the grand finals.

Four 180's were thrown during the finals congratulations to Tremaine Gallagher, Nel Chauhan, Shane Dingle and Vince Jackson. Special mention to Daniel Pearson who didn't get recognised last week for his maximum score, congratulations.

A Grade:

Demons got off to a great start against the more fancied FIGJAMS, winning four of the first five singles. The sixth singles seen the two captains pitted against each other and it was this game that held the result of the match in the balance. Each of the players seemed a little nervous. The first three legs saw Figjams captain Mike 'The Who' Howis lead 2 - 1. The fourth leg came down to the double with The Who missing a shot to win the game only to have Demons Captain Dickie Dingle win the leg on double tops. In the fifth leg The Who outplayed Dickie taking the leg in convincing fashion. Score going into the doubles. Demons (4) Figjam (2). FIGJAMS went into the doubles knowing full well they needed to win them all to have any chance of taking the match and thats exactly what they did. Each of the doubles games went the full distance. Scores going into the last round of the singles FIGJAM (5) Demons (4). FIGJAM went on to win the first of the three singles games shutting out the Demons 8 - 4.

Grand Final: Dilligaf v's FIGJAM

B Grade:

Dapto Double D's got off to a flier against Bulli Workers winning the first two threes games. Bulli Workers were not the same team that shut down the Minor Premiers last week. Going into the doubles Bulli needed to win atleast two of them but could only manage one. Scores going into the singles DD's(4) Bulli(1). Double D's had a commanding lead going into the singles and only needed two of the six singles to win. Playing strong up front DD's had a couple of finals experienced players who kept their cool and went on to win the game 6 - 1.

Grand Final: Gimps v's Dapto DD's

C Grade:

Towradgi 5-6er's and Mixed put on a very close game. With the threes going one all, the doubles would be just as close with the first two doubles going either way, 2 all, after the first four games. The third doubles game had the Mixed experienced pairing come out on top with the win. Scores going into the singles Mixed(3) Towradgi 5-6er's(2). The first three games of the singles went in the way of Towradgi and they went to a 5 - 3 lead. The next two games went back in the favour of Mixed scores are now locked at 5 - 5, with one singles to go. The last singles is a match that see's one of our new players Jack Mott up against the experience of veteran player Maurie Walmsley. The pressure was on Jack who handled it well leading 2 - 1 going into the fourth leg. Jack played well during the leg only to miss a number of darts at the double to win the game. Maurie hit the double to take the game to the fifth and deciding leg. This is where the experience from the veteran showed starting off with some big scores and not missing the triple twenty Maurie had the game in the palm of his hands and convincingly won in twenty one darts. Mixed 6 - 5

Grand Final: Kiama Inn-Truders v's Mixed

Rnd 15 and A Grade Finals

Seven 180's were thrown during the first week of the finals congratulations to Mick Charlton 2, Jake Howie, Steve Tepaki, Mike Howis, Dave Hogan, Eli Archibald.

A Grade:

Dilligaf showed why they are the team to beat. They convincingly defeated a gallant FIGJAM 8 - 3 to go to the Grand Final. All is not lost for FIGJAM as they have a second bite at the cherry as they take on club rivals Demons in the Final to see who takes on Dilligaf. Demons had a very exciting win over the ever consistent DV8's 8 - 7. Coming down to the last game and the fifth leg, with the Demons prevailing.

B Grade:

In what was the game of the round Bulli Workers needed an 11 nil whitewash of the Gimps to knock them out of top spot. Unfortunately for Bulli who started the night off in fine form winning the first three games were unable to complete the whitewash defeating Gimps 8 - 3. Bulli and Gimps finished on top with 24 points each, Gimps go into the Grand Final due to a better for/against record. Double D's out shone Fairy Meadow Bowls 7 - 4 and take third spot on 22 points. The Badboyz have come home strong in the last couple of games of the comp defeating a player short Wizards 8 - 3. Finals next week will see Bulli Workers up against Dapto Double D's with the winner meeting the Gimps in the Grand Final.

C Grade:

In the game of the round Towradgi 5-6er's were pitted against Mixed for 2nd and 3rd with the Towradgi coming out on top in a very close game 6 - 5. Night Owls defeated top spot Kiama Inn-Truders 7 - 4. Despite the loss Kiama still hold onto first place and will advance to the Grand Final. Hawaii 501's out gunned the Jokers 7 - 4. Finals games next week will be Towradgi 5-6er's up against Unanderra Mixed with the winner meeting Inn-Truders in the Grand Final.

Rnd 14

Eleven 180's were thrown this week with two players hitting the maximum three times, congratulations to Tremaine Gallagher 3, Joel Hynd 3, Jozo Lukendic, Dave Hogan, Jake Howie, Mick Charlton and Graham Merz snr.

A Grade:

Last round of the competition proper for A grade. FIGJAM defeated a very gallant Night Owls 11 - 4. In the game of the round DV8's overcame a strong finishing Demons 8 - 7. Patch Bros accounted for the Rebels 10 - 5 and Dilligaf had the bye. Major and Elimination Semi Finals next week at the Fraternity Club will be as follows.

Dilligaf v FIGJAM Major Semi Final

DV8's v Demons Elimination Semi Final

Good luck to theses teams in their quest for A Grade supremacy.

B Grade:

Gimps showed why they lead the B grade in the match of the round, with a convincing win over DD's 7 - 4. Bulli workers had a very narrow win over the hapless Wizards 6 - 5 and Badboyz are starting to find some form at the wrong end of the competition with a win over Fairy Meadow Bowls 7 - 4

With one round to play the top three spots have been decided the order though is a different story. Mathematically Bulli could, but very unlikely, knock Gimps out of top spot with an eleven nil white wash. If Bulli lose to the gimps and DD's win then Bulli will drop to third spot on the ladder.

C Grade:

Kiama Inn-Truders had a big win over Hawaii 501's 9 - 2. Towradgi 5-6er's had a narrow win over the hapless Jokers 6 - 5. Night Owls 2 defeated Mixed 7 - 4.

With one round to play Inn-Truders have the comp sewn up and will finish first the battle for second and third is still on the table between Towradgi 5-6er's and Mixed with a protest lodged by Night Owls 2 could see a shake up in C Grade. We will have to wait and see what the outcome will be.

......................................................................................................................................................

Rnd 13

Only one 180 was thrown this week congratulations to Allan Cox.

A Grade:

DV8's defeated Night Owls 14 - 1, Dilligaf had a forfiet, Demons had a forfiet and Figjam had the bye. A Grade have one round to play before the semi finals. Top four postiions have pretty well been decided.

B Grade:

In the game of thr round Bulli Workers out played DD's winning 8 - 3, Fairy Meadow Bowls defeated Wizards 7 - 4 and Badboyz had the upset win of the round beating Gimps 6 - 5. It's obvious that the gimps were missing stalwart Bill "Thumbs" Scott who had an operation on his darting hand and is out for the rest of the comp. We wish Bill a speedy recovery.

C Grade:

Waiting for some results from snail mail for Mixed, but in the other games this week Night Owls defeated 501's 8 - 3 and the game of the round 5-6ers defeated front runners Inn-Truders 6 - 5

..............................................................................

......................................................................................................................................................

Rnd 11

5 180's and a 170 finish were the highlights of round 11. 180's were thrown by Tremaine Gallagher, John Bunyard, Eli Archibald, Dan Brown, Vince Jackson. Maximum finish was thrown by Tremaine Gallagher this feat is rarely achieved during the competition congratulations to Tremaine.

A Grade,

Demons hit their straps this week defeating Rebels 15 - 0. Rebels were playing with 5 players so the Demons were gifted 3 games, so in reality they won 12 - 0. But I'm sure they will beg to differ on that one. Dilligaf again showed why they are the team to beat this comp with a 14 - 1 win over the Night Owls. The Night Owls aren't to far off the pace during the games, a few doubles here and there and scores would be a lot different. Figjam overcame the patch brothers 10 - 3 both teams only had five players. DV8's had the bye.

B Grade

Gimps are the team to beat in B grade after demolishing the Wizards 8 - 3. Bulli Workers not tobe out done defeated Fairy Meadow Bowls 8 - 3. DD's had a strong win over Badboyz 7 - 4. Badboyz just haven't clicked this comp and are a much better team than the results would suggest.

C Grade

Kiama Inn-Truders have a commanding lead in C Grade and they are the team to beat at this stage. They had a very close last game win over Mixed 6 - 5. Night Owls had a win over the hapless Jokers 8 - 3. A draw 5 - 5 was the outcome of the game between Hawaii 501's and Towradgi 5/6ers.

......................................................................................................................................................

Rnd 10

It's nice to recieve all the result sheets early. Still have one result sheet missing from Rnd 8 C Grade Night Owls v Hawaii 501's

15 180's were thrown this week with two players hitting the maximum twice con gratulations to John Bunyard 2, Stef Cubrilovic 2, Dan Brown, Shane Wolter, Steve TePaki, Joel Hynd, Tremaine Gallagher, Ryan Carter, Brad Doherty, Nathan Simpson, Kevin Pope, Keiran Hurry and Albert Correia.

A Grade,

Top of the table clash between Dillgaf and FIGJAM went the way of Dilligaf 11 - 4. Result didn't reflect how close the games actually were. DV8's outplayed Patch Brothers 12 - 3. Night Owls won in a close encounter over the Rebels 9 - 6 and Demons had the BYE.

B Grade,

In what was the game of the rnd Gimps out gunned Bulli Workers 7 - 4. Gimps have recruited strongly this comp with a couple of veterans joining the stable. Double D's were back to almost full strength after missing Lou Kominkovski last week, winning 7 - 4 over Fairy Meadow bowls who have been playing without stalwart Bish Lavalle for the last few weeks. Badboyz have opened their account with a strong showing against the Wizards 9 - 2. Badboyz have been unlucky this comp not to have won more games as a lot of them have gone down to the wire. Lets see if they can finish the comp of strongly.

C Grade,

Corrimal Jokers have won thier first game this week in strong form over Hawaii 501's 8 - 3. The Jokers have a side with some experienced players and their form this comp dosen't reflect what this team can do. Inn-Truders have shown why they are leading the C Grade comp after disposing of the Night Owls 7 - 4. The game of the rnd was between Towradgi 5-6ers and Unanderra Mixed. Towradgi won the last three singles to take the game away from Mixed 8 - 3. The 5-6ers only formed this comp with some new players who have never played darts in the Illawarra comp and they are going from strength to strength.

A Grade,

Dilligaf v DV8's

After throwning like champions last week DV8's let the pressure get to them. Losing one of their players during the week to a hand injury did not help the situation. To Dilligaf's credit they played strong hitting big scores, big finishes and hitting the doubles when it counted. It was a clynical display of darts from them.

Final Score Dilligaf (8) DV8's (0)

B Grade

Semi Finals

One 180 was thrown during the semi final congratulations to Nel Chauhan.

A Grade,

FIGJAM v DV8's was a great game. According to figjam's players it was their worst preformance of the comp. DV8's got off to a flyer hitting their doubles with precision and accuracy, going into the doubles 5-1 up was going to be tough for figjam to come back from. With figjam winning two of the three doubles saw the score 6-3 to DV8's. DV8's then won the first of the singles score 7-3, needing only one game for the win pressure was on. Figjam then won the next 4 singles score is now level with one game left to play. Nel got of to a great start in the first leg 1-0, Brad played strong second leg 1-1, Nel found it tough to hit a double and let a big lead go in the third, Brad 2-1. Again Nel had a commanding lead in the fourth only to let it slip and allow Brad back into the leg and hitting the double as soon as he had the chance, Brad wins the game for DV8's 3-1. Final score DV8's 8 FIGJAM 7.

Next weeks Grand Final will be Dilligaf v's DV8's with Dilligaf having home team honours.

9 180's were thrown this week, congratulations to, Eli Archibald and John Bunyard throwning 2 each, Ian Warren, Tremaine Gallagher, Bill Scott Jnr, Hayden Charlton and Mick Charlton. Tremaine now leads with 10 followed by John B and Steve T on 9.

A Grade,

Both Dilligaf and Figjam had convincing wins on Tuesday, but the game of the round was Demons v's DV8's, with the winner taking out the coverted third spot. A close game throughout the night with a few missed doubles here and there from Demons and a couple of good finishes from DV8's saw the DV8's outright winners 9 - 6. One round to play before the finals see's DV8's host FIGJAM, Dilligaf play Demons and Bulli Workers pitted against Nightowls.

B Grade,

Upset round this week with Kiama taking the honors over the leaders Rebels but the lose won't hurt Rebels position on the ladder. Gimps had a convincing win over Open hearth and will take out second place with one round to play and Badboyz recieved a forfiet from Frat Brothers. Gimps will need to be on their toes next week when they play Kiama at Kiama, Open Hearth host Badboyz and Frat Brothers take on Rebels at the Frat.

C Grade,

Corrimal Jokers hit their straps this week with a convincing 10 -1 win over Hawaii 501's, Jokers have had a few close games this comp and have been unlucky with a number of 6 - 5 losses. Double D's showed why they are leading this comp with a 8 - 3 win over Mixed and Night Owls won in a close affair 6 - 5 over Fairy Meadow Bowls. Next weeks games are, Jokers v Mixed at Corrimal RSL, Fairy Meadow Bowls v Hawaii 501 at Fairy Meadow and Double D's take on inform Night Owls at Dapto.

.....................................................................................................................................................

Rnd 13,

10 180's were thrown this week congratulations to, Eli Archibald, Trevor Hay, Tremaine Gallagher, Shane Wolter, Norm Brocklehurst, Dan Brown, Steve Stewart, Brad Doherty, Hayden Charlton and Mick Turner. Tremaine now joins Steve at the top of the 180 list with 9 a piece followed by John Bunyard on 7.

A Grade,

Top of the table clash between Dilligaf and FIGJAM saw Dilligaf come out on top with a 10-5 victory. They are now both on 22 points with Dilligaf edging in front on for/against points, should see them just about seal up first spot. But anything can happen with two rounds to play. DV8's and Demons sit on 14 points each and are seperated by for/against points as well. They play each other next round and the winner will more than likely take out the coverted third position.

B Grade,

Rebels have a commanding lead and cannot lose top spot even if they get beat in the last two rounds. Gimps are sitting in second and should hold that spot over the next two rounds and Frat Bros after missing two meetings this year, resulting with them losing 6 points sit in third spot.

C Grade,

Dapto Double D's have the upper hand sitting first by 4 points from Fairy Meadow Bowls, with third place hotly contested between Night Owls 2 on 12 points and Unanderra Mixed on 10. Night Owls have a tough run home with their last two games against Fairy Meadow and then Dapto. Mixed will be up against it next week playing Dapto so it looks likely that third position will come down to the last round game in two weeks time.

Rnd 12,

We have passed the 100 x 180's hitting 101 this week. Only three 180's were hit this week, congratulations to T Gallagher, N Chauhan, and S Wolter.

The competition is hotting up in A grade with three rounds to play. Only two points separate the top two teams and FIGJAM and Dilligaf have sewn up the top two position's, with a top of the table clash next Tuesday could certainly see who goes straight into the Grand Final. Third spot is highly contested between DV8's and Demons. Both teams are on equal points and is only separated by for and against points. Third spot will more than likely come down to the last game of the comp to determine the last finals spot.

B Grade with three rounds to play see the Rebels with a comfortable lead of 6 points could be hard to catch. They would have to lose their last three games to give the Gimps a chance of a shot at 1st place but is highly unlikely. With Frat brothers missing the monthly meeting sees them again lose 3 points and so gives the Gimps a bit of breathing space in the race to the finals.

C Grade see's Dapto DD's in a commanding position 4 points clear of second placed Fairy Meadow Bowls. The Double D's have a very strong side should see them finish on top. Fairy Meadow is 6 points clear of third. As in A Grade Night Owls 2 and Unanderra mixed are sitting on 10 points apiece and only for/against separating them.
